Alabama freshman defensive back Kyriq McDonald collapsed on the sideline late in the third quarter of Monday’s championship game.
ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi reported during the broadcast that McDonald collapsed without warning on the sideline and had to be placed on a stretcher.

McDonald was treated with ice towels. When being stretchered off, he was awake and alert, and able to respond to prompts from the medical staff.
While it was certainly the scariest and most serious event on the Alabama sideline, it wasn’t the only unusual thing that happened there during the third quarter. Hopefully everything checks out okay with the freshman.
