Marvin Lewis receiving ‘serious consideration’ for NFL head coaching jobs?
Marvin Lewis is working as an assistant on Herm Edwards’ staff at Arizona State this season, but his stay at the collegiate level may be a very brief one.
Lewis, who was the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals from 2003 until they fired him following last season, is getting “serious consideration” as an NFL head coaching candidate for 2020, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

The Bengals fired Lewis after he failed to win a playoff game in 16 seasons. He certainly has plenty of experience, however, and he is still fairly young by NFL head coaching standards at age 61.
There was talk that Lewis might move to a position in Cincinnati’s front office or take a job working in television, but it was reported from the start that he wants to keep coaching. Whether or not he returns to the NFL in that capacity next season will probably depend upon how many vacancies there are at the end of the year.
