Ole Miss game delayed by squirrel in stadium
Saturday’s game between Ole Miss and Oklahoma endured a brief delay late in the first quarter due to an unexpected visitor on the field.
Officials had to hold things up briefly at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium when a squirrel found its way onto the playing field. The crowd was absolutely delighted — especially when the critter found its way into the end zone for a “touchdown.”

ESPN’s Bob Wischusen was in fine form on the national broadcast, joking that there was a “Geneva Convention” on the process of removing the squirrel and making fun of various staffers that seemed to be pointing the squirrel in the right direction.

Rodent delays are far from unprecedented during sporting events. Sometimes the critters are even more dramatic than the Ole Miss one was, but the squirrel put up six points, and you cannot fault that kind of effort.
The Rebels could have used some of the squirrel’s offensive juice, as they trailed 14-10 to the Sooners at the half.
