Report: Trevone Boykin was in room at curfew check, went back out to bar
Trevone Boykin violated TCU team rules just by being out at a bar early Thursday morning, according to a report.
TCU head coach Gary Patterson announced on Thursday that Boykin and junior wide receiver Preston Miller have been suspended for their role in a fight that took place outside a bar in San Antonio.
“Trevone Boykin and (junior wide receiver) Preston Miller have been suspended for Saturday’s game due to a violation of team rules,” Patterson said in a statement. “We are disappointed in their actions and apologize to the TCU Horned Frogs Nation, Valero Alamo Bowl and city of San Antonio.”
Boykin, who was arrested for resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer at around 2 a.m., broke team rules by going out after curfew. Mark Schlabach of ESPN reports that Boykin was in his hotel room when coaches did a curfew check at midnight and then went back out.

Boykin was formally charged with third-degree felony assault of a police officer and assigned a $5,000 bond.
It’s amazing that players can’t show better judgment with just one game remaining in the season. We have already seen several players who are involved in the CFB Playoff sent home early, and now Boykin is facing a felony charge. That’s not the way the senior wanted to wrap up his outstanding collegiate career.
