Ole Miss defensive end Fadol Brown tweeted on Tuesday night that Walter Scott, the 50-year-old man who was shot to death by a police officer in South Carolina over the weekend, was his stepfather.
Brown, a junior who transferred to Ole Miss from Florida International in 2013, later deleted the tweet. Eye on College Football shared a screenshot:

Scott was fatally shot in the back on Saturday morning by North Charleston Police officer Michael Slager. Scott, who was unarmed, was running away from Slager after a traffic stop when Slager fired eight rounds at him. An amateur video of the shooting that was recorded by a bystander was released on Tuesday, and Slager has since been charged with murder.

Slager, 33, claims he feared for his life after Scott stole his taser.
While the details of the relationship between Brown and Scott are unclear, it is clear that the incident is shaping up to be a tragedy that could have been avoided.
