Aaron Hernandez documentary reportedly ‘blindsided’ Odin Lloyd’s family
The Aaron Hernandez documentary that premiered on Netflix last week has brought the shocking story back into the spotlight, and the family of the man Hernandez was convicted of murdering wishes the three-part series had never been created.
Hernandez killed himself in prison back in 2017 when he was serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. According to a report from TMZ, members of Lloyd’s family felt blindsided when “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez” was announced. The family says they have worked hard to move on from the tragic loss, but the documentary re-opened old wounds.
Lloyd’s family members did not sign off on the production of the documentary, and they reportedly feel that the old footage used in it makes it seem like they were active participants. They are also upset that personal photos of Odin were used without the Lloyd family’s permission, though they have no interest in pursuing another legal battle.
Perhaps the worst residual effect of the documentary is that the Lloyd family has received messages from Hernandez supporters who have insulted Odin, sources told TMZ.
While it’s unfortunate that the Lloyd family has been negatively impacted by the documentary, most people who have seen it feel it provides a riveting look inside the mind of a former star athlete who lived a double life. There were countless fascinating aspects of the Hernandez story, and the documentary covered those in addition to several new ones.
