Aaron Rodgers responds to Patriots player who called him slow

A New England Patriots player had some unflattering things to say about Aaron Rodgers on Sunday, and the quarterback’s response might surprise you.

Following New England’s 25-22 win over the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., Patriots defensive lineman Davon Godchaux said Rodgers “didn’t look mobile at all.” Godchaux indicated that he feels he is faster than Rodgers, who was once a master at making plays with his legs.

Rodgers was asked about the comments on Tuesday. He said he was unaware of them but did not disagree with Godchaux.

“He’s probably right. Yeah, I was hurting, but I feel better today,” Rodgers said, via ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

Rodgers has been banged up this season and dealt with a new injury leading up to Sunday’s game. Some of his mobility issues have likely been caused by his age and the torn Achilles he suffered last year. The 40-year old also said he wasn’t forced to move outside the pocket as much as usual against the Patriots.

“That was probably part of it, but I expect to be able to do a lot more this week,” Rodgers added. “I’ll be under center and, hopefully, back to my faster-than-Godchaux speed.”

Rodgers finished 17/28 for 233 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions against New England. That was an improvement from the 6 interceptions he had in three games prior to that, but the end result was a fifth consecutive loss for the Jets.

The Jets have a chance to bounce back quickly with a home game against the Houston Texans on Thursday night. Rodgers insists he is feeling good heading into that contest, so it will be interesting to see how mobile he looks.
