DeAndre Hopkins will likely need some time to become fully familiar with the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense, but that does not mean he is planning to sit out of any games with his new team.
The Chiefs acquired Hopkins on Wednesday in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. That gives Hopkins less than a full week to prepare for Kansas City’s Week 8 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. When asked on Thursday if Hopkins has a chance to play, Reid had a simple two-word response.
“Why wait?” the coach asked.

Andy Reid on DeAndre Hopkins' chances of playing on Sunday against Raiders: "Why wait?''

That likely means Hopkins is planning to suit up on Sunday. We already saw Davante Adams play for the New York Jets a few days after being traded to his new team and Amari Cooper do the same with the Buffalo Bills. It would be not be a surprise if Hopkins were active against the Raiders, even if only for a limited number of snaps.
Hopkins has made five Pro Bowl appearances in his career. The 32-year-old may not have the same explosion he did several years ago, but he also does not have to have the entire playbook memorized to make an impact.
With the Chiefs extremely shorthanded at the wide receiver position, Hopkins will likely be called upon to make some immediate contributions.
