Bernard Pollard: Titans suck, I wouldn’t root for us either

Bernard-Pollard-TitansThe Tennessee Titans began their season with a convincing win over the Kansas City Chiefs, and it has been all downhill since then. Losers of three straight, the Titans haven’t even been competitive in any game since Week 1. And Bernard Pollard is sick of it.

Pollard, who signed with Tennessee last year, blasted his own team on Wednesday and said he doesn’t blame any fans who choose not to show up to games. He phrased it far more gracefully than we can.

“We have talent. We have guys that can take the roof off and guys that can be stars in this league,” Pollard said, via Jim Wyatt of The Tennesseean. “It’s time for us to do that. We’re a 1-3 football team. The first quarter (against the Colts) was … horrible. We sucked butt. I say that again, and I mean what I say: We were horrible. But we have a shot at being a very good football team, and I’m going to try and pull that out of all of us.”

Pollard went on to describe the Titans as “doormats” for a lot of people around the NFL. He then took aim at those who have criticized the fans.

“As far as saying we need the fans to show up and back us up, they’ve been backing us up since we’ve been here,” he added. “You want to call them fair-weather fans and say they don’t show up, rightfully so. I wouldn’t root for this team either, because we’re a team that comes out and shows greatness one time and then we come out and drop an egg. We can’t do that.”

I don’t think anyone thought the Titans would be a contender after their Week 1 win over the Chiefs, but few thought they would fall this hard. While they have played some quality teams, they play the Browns, Jaguars and Redskins over the next three weeks. If they can’t win one of those games, it could be a very ugly season in Tennessee.

Maybe if this little guy came to life the Titans would stand a chance.
