Former NFL player Bill Romanowski got himself into trouble with a questionable tweet that appeared to have racial undertones.
Romanowski, who was one of the more controversial players in the league during his 16-season NFL career, criticized Cam Newton for the way the QB walked out of his postgame media conference. He punctuated his criticism by calling Newton “boy.”

Romanowski later deleted the tweet and then tried to backpedal:

Calm down everyone! I meant he needs to grow up!

Romanowski also apologized.
I apologize for that remark 'boy'. It was not intentional or even trying to disrespect others. Peace everyone.

Let’s keep in mind here that Romanowski was a dirty player who was constantly fined, steroids user, and he once spit in opponent JJ Stokes’ face.
This is the record of the guy calling #CamNewton a "boy" and to man up! I just can't! Romanowski just stop! pic.twitter.com/BgE7YQV1v8

I don’t care what Romanowski says in his denial — that comment reeked of a racist attitude. Our friend KFC Barstool captured my thoughts pretty well:
I mean you can just hear the slavery in his tweet
