Brandon Marshall is a 33-year-old wide receiver who just suffered a season-ending ankle injury, so it’s fair to wonder if we have seen the last of him in the NFL. However, Marshall insists that has not even crossed his mind.
Marshall told ESPN’s Adam Schefter over the weekend that he is too big of a competitor to see his career end with an injury.
“I’m a competitor, and I don’t want to go out like that,” he said. “I’m definitely not going out like that.”

Marshall will be 34 next season and has already dabbled in television with regular appearances on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL” last year. He was also not very productive before his ankle injury, catching just 18 passes for 154 yards and no scores. Still, Marshall insists he is focusing on being healthy in time for a 13th NFL season.
“That’s my mindset right now,” he told ESPN.
Though he signed a two-year deal with the New York Giants this past offseason, there’s a good chance the team will release Marshall. Odell Beckham Jr., who suffered a season-ending ankle injury of his own, is still in search of a long-term deal, and it seems likely the Giants will give it to him.
Marshall had one of the best seasons of his career with the New York Jets in 2015, but he wasn’t nearly as productive last year. The market for his services could be a lot thinner this winter.
