Watch: Brandon McManus rages over not getting shot at 65-yard field goal
Kickers are usually fairly even-keeled, but don’t tell that to Denver’s Brandon McManus after what happened just before halftime of Sunday’s game.
Denver had the ball at the Chargers’ 47-yard line with one second to go before the half in Sunday’s game. This isn’t really a great situation, as they could attempt a Hail Mary or bring on their kicker for a very long attempt. However, the game was in the thin air of Denver, and McManus clearly felt he could make it from 65 yards, which would have been an NFL record.
Coach Vic Fangio, however, chose to send the offense back out, depriving McManus of his chance at a record kick — and the Denver kicker was visibly unhappy at being held back.

Worse, Denver ended up taking a delay of game penalty.
It’s not often you’ll see a kicker rage like that, especially publicly at a coach. Fangio probably won’t like that, but McManus will counter by saying he’s hit from much further than 65. With so little to lose, you can’t really blame the kicker for wanting to try.
