Brett Favre issues heartfelt statement on passing of Bart Starr
The Green Bay Packers lost one of the most important people in franchise history over the weekend when Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr passed away, and Brett Favre was quick to make it clear what one Packers legend meant to another.
Shortly after Starr’s family and the Packers announced that the five-time NFL champion died at age 85, Favre took to Twitter to express how much Starr meant to him.
Bart Starr was the most kind, thoughtful and classiest person you could ever know. I consider myself extremely lucky to have called him friend and to have been mentioned in the same breath. Deanna and I are praying for Cherry and the Starr family. #RIPBartStarr

Starr, Favre and Aaron Rodgers are widely considered to be the three greatest quarterbacks in Packers franchise history, and you could debate the order of them in any number of ways. It’s no surprise that Favre thought so highly of Starr, as the two could certainly relate to one another.
As we saw from the way many in the NFL community reacted to his death, Starr was widely respected and will be missed.
