The meeting between the sides comes as no surprise as reporter Adam Caplan also said Wednesday Hoyer planned to visit with the Broncos.
Hoyer was released by the Texans on Sunday and already has had plenty of interest. He met with the Jets, who are looking for options in case they are unable to get Ryan Fitzpatrick under contract. The Steelers and Cowboys are also said to have interest in the former Houston QB.
Hoyer, 30, went from being a backup with the Patriots to starting the past two seasons. He threw for 3,334 yards in 2014 with the Browns, and he looked even better last season, passing for 2,606 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. However, Hoyer completely bombed in the playoffs, throwing four interceptions in a loss to the Chiefs.
If you look beyond the poor playoff start, you’ll see a quarterback who has shown he can keep a team competitive in regular season NFL games and produce wins. Hoyer is a competent starting option and a well above average backup QB.
