San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had the worst game of his career Monday against the Baltimore Ravens. Fans made sure to add insult to injury.
Purdy went 18/32 for 255 yards with no touchdowns on Christmas in a 33-19 49ers loss to the Ravens at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The vaunted Ravens defense intercepted Purdy 4 times and sacked him twice.
The second-year pro became the first 49ers QB to throw four picks since Colin Kaepernick nearly a decade ago.

Purdy’s performance was unequivocally the worst in the 49ers QB’s nascent NFL tenure. The Ravens game was just the second time in his career Purdy failed to throw a touchdown pass across 20 starts. It was the first time he failed to record a TD entirely.
Purdy had also never thrown more than two interceptions prior to doubling that mark in Monday’s contest.
In a season with no clear frontrunner for MVP, Purdy appeared poised to lock up the award heading into the contest.
One game doesn’t completely revoke Purdy’s candidacy for a season-long award. But such a huge meltdown against a rival Super Bowl contender will surely be something MVP voters will keep in mind.
