Chargers reportedly release kicker Caleb Sturgis
The Los Angeles Chargers have finally made their widely-expected move at kicker.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chargers are releasing kicker Caleb Sturgis a day after he missed a field goal and two extra points against the Seattle Seahawks.
Not a surprise but significant: Chargers are releasing kicker Caleb Sturgis, per source.

The Chargers already have a replacement, as Michael Badgley will likely return from the practice squad. He’s been perfect this year when Sturgis was sidelined due to injury.
Chargers have been carrying kicker Michael Badgley on their practice squad, he already has made all ten of his kicks in games this season, and he now figures to be their new kicker starting Sunday at the Raiders.

Sturgis made all his field goals from 40 yards or less, but was under 50 percent from beyond that and just 60 percent on extra points. That’s unacceptably bad, and it left the Chargers with no choice but to move on, especially after their kicking game was a big letdown in 2017, too. It turns out to be a very good thing that they ended up keeping two kickers after all.
