Free agent running back Chris Johnson was shot in the shoulder during a fatal drive-by shooting early Sunday morning in his home area of Orlando, Fla., and is said to be in stable condition.

An unknown vehicle pulled up beside Johnson’s car at an intersection and opened fire, killing the driver of Johnson’s car and wounding Johnson and another man. The driver was 28-year-old Dreekius Oricko Johnson, while the other wounded man was 29-year-old Reggie Johnson, who was shot in the shoulder, hand and leg.

Reggie and Chris are both in stable condition. Police are investigating the homicide.

Johnson, 29, played with the Jets last season and recorded a career-worst 155 carries, 663 yards and one touchdown. His January arrest for carrying a firearm coupled with this shooting will likely make it unappealing for teams to come calling this offseason.

Johnson had been training in LA but went home for the weekend to see family and friends, and then this happened.
