Darrelle Revis: Fight with Brandon Marshall ‘good for us’

Darrelle Revis Jets

Darrelle Revis is downplaying his practice fight with Brandon Marshall, arguing that it will make the New York Jets a better team.

“It’s just football, man,” Revis said Saturday of his skirmish with Marshall, according to Colin Stephenson of ESPN. “It’s nothing more.

“You might hit somebody in the head, you might get poked in the eye, you might get your foot stepped on,” Revis added. “It’s all football. It’s all involved. It’s a very physical sport.

“We’re two very competitive guys, and this hasn’t been the first time of us getting into it. We’re both physical players, and we like to compete, and I think this is good. This is good for us to compete the way we did. Brandon’s not going to stop competing the way he competes, and I’m not going to stop competing the way I compete.”

Marshall had previously told reporters that Revis’s trash talk had been personally and crossed a line. Revis said he and Marshall are fine and did not feel the need to talk things over with him.

For what it’s worth, Chad Johnson agrees that the spat will prove beneficial to the Jets.

You can check out what supposedly led to the fisticuffs here, but nobody seems all that concerned. These things are a pretty regular staple of training camps.
