Giants GM Dave Gettleman reveals he has been diagnosed with lymphoma

Dave Gettleman

Dave Gettleman has been faced with the tough challenge of having to rebuild the New York Giants after a disappointing season, but the general manager revealed on Tuesday that he will be beginning a much more difficult fight in the near future.

In a statement he released through the team, Gettleman announced that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma. The 67-year-old says he will begin treatment “in the very near future.”

Gettleman said he will continue to work with the Giants as much as his treatments allow and will be in contact with the team even when he can’t be in the office, but his health is obviously the top priority at the moment. The most encouraging part of his statement is that Gettleman says the doctors consider his prognosis to be “positive.”

Gettleman has already made a number of big moves this offseason, and fans are expecting a much better Giants team in 2018. Here’s hoping he is able to take part in as much of the new season as possible.
