Report: DeMarcus Ware, Adrian Peterson could be options for Cowboys

Adrian Peterson

The Dallas Cowboys could add some veterans to help them try to build on their 2016 season, including one familiar face.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cowboys could have interest in Peterson as a complementary piece to Ezekiel Elliott if he and the Minnesota Vikings fail to agree on a restructured contract.

Linebacker DeMarcus Ware, who spent the first nine years of his NFL career in Dallas, may also be an option. The veteran will be a free agent, and is coming off back surgery. He still has a house in Dallas and his two kids still live there, though he has a great affection for his current team, the Denver Broncos, as well.

The Vikings have yet to make a decision on Peterson’s future, but there are some other teams he would like to play for as well. Dallas wouldn’t be able to guarantee him a starting job. It remains to be seen how much that would matter to him.
