DeVante Parker’s mother rips Cleveland Browns, didn’t want son going there
Perhaps the only one happier than the Miami Dolphins about the team selecting DeVante Parker in the NFL draft is the wide receiver’s mother.
The Dolphins chose Parker No. 14 overall on Thursday, making him the third wide receiver selected in the draft. Parker’s mother is ecstatic about the pick because she knows things could have been much worse. For instance, Parker could have ended up in a disastrous situation with the Cleveland Browns.
“We didn’t want him going to Cleveland,” Raneca Parker said Friday via the Miami Herald. “They don’t have a team, really, or a quarterback. I knew I didn’t want the Cleveland Browns.
“I know the teams the teams he could go to and the teams he couldn’t go to. We were happy with the Miami Dolphins. He was very ecstatic. We’re happy, we love the weather.”
Ouch. That has to hurt.
Despite not having a quarterback as Mrs. Parker so aptly points out, the Browns did go 7-9 last season and were a respectable team. But they are a mess of a franchise and have been for going on three decades now. I wouldn’t have wanted my kid to go there either if I had a choice. The only downside to not going to Cleveland is that Parker might miss out on a chance to be on “Hard Knocks” during his rookie year. Yeah, I’m pretty sure he’s more happy about going to Miami.
