Devin Bush becoming Nostradamus with predictions about Steelers defense

Devin Bush

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Devin Bush is still getting acclimated to life in the NFL just nine games into his professional career, but there may be no player in football who can more accurately predict what he and his teammates are going to do on the field.

Leading up to games throughout the season, Bush has shared predictions with reporters about what Pittsburgh’s defense is going to accomplish in their upcoming game. He’s had some misses, of course, but the overall body of work is incredibly impressive. Last week, Bush said the Steelers were going to have two interceptions and four sacks against Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams.

The prediction was nearly spot-on. Pittsburgh had four sacks and three interceptions in their 17-12 win over the Rams on Sunday, but one of the picks came off punter Johnny Hekker. We’ll give Bush a pass for not being able to see that coming.

Last week was even more impressive. As Hunter Homistek of DKPittsburghSports.com notes, Bush predicted the Steelers would have four or five sacks and an interception against an Indianapolis Colts team that had previously only allowed 11 total sacks on the season. Pittsburgh sacked Jacoby Brissett and Brian Hoyer a total of five times, and Minkah Fitzpatrick intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.

Calais Campbell is probably the only player in the NFL who wouldn’t be impressed with Bush’s psychic skills. If the former Michigan star predicts the Steelers will have a bunch of sacks and picks against the Cleveland Browns leading up to Thursday night, Baker Mayfield should be very afraid.
