Dolphins coach provides troubling update about Ryan Tannehill

Ryan Tannehill

Ryan Tannehill missed his fourth consecutive game on Sunday when the Miami Dolphins took on the New York Jets, and it does not sound like he will be ready to return in Week 10.

On Monday, Dolphins head coach Adam Gase provided some updates about Tannehill that were not all that encouraging. He said it’s hard to get a read on when the quarterback might return because “everything is inconsistent” with how Tannehill’s injured shoulder feels.

“We’re just trying to get to the point where he feels good throwing and we’ll go from there,” Gase said, via Omar Kelly of The Sun-Sentinel.

The Dolphins have a bye after they face the Green Bay Packers next weekend, so it would not be a surprise if Tannehill is held out until at least Week 12. Tannehill has not thrown a pass in practice for three weeks in hopes that the swelling in his shoulder will subside, but Gase said the pain will be minimal one day and significant the next.

With Tannehill seemingly out indefinitely, his future with the Dolphins is starting to look a bit unclear.
