Dolphins owner confirms Brent Grimes’ wife Miko played role in release

Miko Grimes

The Miami Dolphins released cornerback Brent Grimes earlier this offseason, and there was plenty of speculation that the veteran’s wife had something to do with the move. On Tuesday, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross removed all doubt.

While speaking with reporters at the NFL owners meetings, Ross admitted that the Dolphins wanted to move on from both Brent and Miko.

“I think everybody knows what she represented,” Ross said, per Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post. “I thought it was best that the Dolphins move on from Brent and Miko.”

That should surprise no one. Miko was a huge distraction for the Dolphins, and the final straw was probably when she went off on Ryan Tannehill. We can imagine how awkward that must have made things in the locker room.

Believe it or not, the Dolphins decided they were going to part ways with Grimes before Miko threatened a Dolphins beat writer in this series of tweets. When Grimes signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miko’s social media accounts were coincidentally deactivated. She later insisted that was not done at the request of the Bucs and went off on the Dolphins yet again.

Grimes played well during his tenure in Miami, but he is on the wrong side of 30. He’s lucky he found a team that is willing to put up with his wife’s antics.
