President Donald Trump spent some time with Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley recently, but thought better of challenging the NFL star on his own turf.
Trump and Barkley golfed together on Sunday ahead of the Eagles’ visit to the White House, and the running back even got to travel on Air Force One as part of the experience. That prompted Trump to crack a joke about their day together.
“What a nice guy he is,” Trump said. “I wanted to race him but I decided not to do it.”

Barkley would beat most people in a race, of course. He is coming off a season that saw him rush for 2,005 yards and challenge the single-season NFL rushing record. That does not even include the 499 additional rushing yards he tallied in the playoffs.
Not every member of the Eagles was as eager to meet the President. Barkley himself took some heat for going golfing with Trump, but defended his decision on social media. It sounds like both he and Trump enjoyed themselves.
