Carson Wentz may be inching close to making his 2018 debut, but it is going to have to wait at least another week.
On Wednesday, Philadelphia Eagles coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Nick Foles will once again start in Week 2. He noted that Wentz still has not been cleared for contact, though he said there have been no setbacks.
No surprise Doug Pederson officially names Nick Foles the #Eagles starting QB vs the Bucs for Week 2.

Carson Wentz has yet to be cleared for contact according to Pederson. Everything is trending in the right direction.

There have been differing reports about how much more time Wentz is expected to miss, but it does not sound like he is going to sit out many more games. The Eagles were able to grind out a win against the Atlanta Falcons in their opener, and they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend before hosting the Indianpolis Colts. There’s no real reason to rush Wentz back, though it would not be a surprise if he plays as soon as Week 3.
