Carson Wentz could reportedly return in September

Carson Wentz

The Philadelphia Eagles refuse to commit to a particular date when Carson Wentz could resume his role as the team’s starting quarterback, but there have seemingly been nothing but positive updates as he continues to rehab from a torn ACL.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Wentz is trending in the right direction and could still return at some point in the next few weeks. While it seems like he is destined to miss Week 2, the Eagles have not ruled out the former first-round pick playing in September.

The Eagles consider Wentz the future of their franchise, so it makes sense that they are taking every precaution possible. Wentz still has not been cleared for contact, though he has been practicing on a limited basis and will probably be ready to play as soon as he gets that clearance.

We’ve heard a variety of reports regarding when Wentz could be back under center, and recent gambling odds didn’t paint the most optimistic picture. Still, it sounds like the Eagles are pleased with where he is at in the rehab process.
