Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy is reportedly in danger of missing several weeks as a result of an ankle injury he has been battling recently.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the injury Lacy is dealing with is more than just a sprain.

Sources: The #Packers are expected to be without workhorse RB Eddie Lacy for several weeks. It's more than a sprained ankle.

Lacy initially hurt his ankle in Week 5 but has not missed any time. He played through the injury on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys and appeared quite hobbled, having to leave the game several times despite rushing for 65 yards on 17 carries.

The Packers acquired Knile Davis in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, and its possible Davis could be the team’s starting running back on Thursday night against the Chicago Bears. It’s also possible a star Packers receiver will get some snaps at tailback.

After being out of shape and having his worst season as a pro in 2015, Lacy is averaging 5.1 yards per carry this year. Losing him for an extended period of time would not be ideal for a Packers offense that is already struggling.
