Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson won’t commit to rookie DeShone Kizer as his Week 1 quarterback, but it certainly appears that he is the clear frontrunner.
Jackson dropped another clear hint Wednesday, saying that it is “trending” in the direction of Kizer starting the Browns’ regular season opener, and that it would take an extremely poor performance for the rookie to lose the job.
Hue says it's "trending in that direction" toward Kizer starting Wk 1. But again stops short. Says he thinks Osweiler will be member of team

#Browns Hue acknowledged that Kizer would have to flame out vs #Bucs to change his mind: "I expect him to do well''

Jackson’s comments are an extension of those he made earlier Wednesday, when he announced that Kizer would start the team’s third preseason game. All indications are that Kizer will be under center and Osweiler will be benched, though despite Jackson’s assurances, it’s far from a guarantee that he’ll make the team if he doesn’t win the starting job.
