Hue Jackson expresses ‘disappointment’ in latest Johnny Manziel incident
If new Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson was leaning toward parting ways with Johnny Manziel weeks ago, he must be even more sure of himself in the wake of the latest incident involving the 23-year-old quarterback.
Over the weekend, police were called to yet another incident involving Manziel and a woman. It’s unclear if the 23-year-old was Manziel’s longtime girlfriend Colleen Crowley, and an investigation revealed that a possible assault occurred but the female was uncooperative. She said she was concerned about Manziel’s well-being, and law enforcement officials had to search for and locate Manziel.
During an appearance on the “Hey Tony” show on ESPN Cleveland Tuesday, Jackson spoke about the latest off-field drama involving Manziel.
“My general reaction would be disappointment,” Jackson said. “As I’ve said many times, I would like for the Cleveland Browns players to conduct themselves in a manner that represents the organization well. Obviously, that reflected differently on what we want to have happen. Obviously, it’s a process that we’re going through and we’ll continue to go through it.”
Manziel was involved in an incident with Crowley back in October, and you can see some footage of that here. The latest drama — which may or may not have involved Crowley — was a bit more bizarre.
In addition to the alleged domestic disturbances, Manziel has also been partying it up since the offseason began (and possibly still during the regular season). Videos have emerged showing him dancing and ripping shots at bars.
Jackson was not with the Browns organization when Manziel was drafted, so he has no sentimental tie to the former Texas A&M star. Given what Jackson recently said about Cleveland’s quarterback situation, we’re surprised the team hasn’t already moved on from Manziel.
