Police were called for possible assault in Manziel case, ex-girlfriend concerned for well-being

Johnny Manziel

Police were called over a possible assault with regards to Johnny Manziel, according to a department press release.

A caller at the Berkeley Apartments reported a possible assault early Saturday morning, according to the Fort Worth Police Department release. When officers arrived, they did not find the caller, but a 23-year-old female who stated she was involved in an altercation with Manziel, whom she referred to as her ex-boyfriend. An investigation determined that a possible assault had occurred, but the female was uncooperative and no crime scene could be located.

The female told police that she was concerned about Manziel’s well-being, and in response, the department began a search for him that ended up going so far as to involve an Air One helicopter unit. Officers eventually determined that Manziel was safe and in no danger, and no arrests were made, but the Fort Worth Police are working alongside the Dallas Police Department to determine if any criminal offense occurred.

Manziel was rumored to have split with girlfriend Colleen Crowley recently, and the pair had apparently had a turbulent relationship, having been involved in another incident back in October that required police involvement. Her concern for his well-being probably isn’t misplaced. Just last weekend, he was spotted doing shots during the AFC Championship game, just the latest in a long line of partying despite the fact that he spent parts of last offseason in treatment. It sounds like the Browns are concerned, too, and with good reason.
