Jacquizz Rodgers reportedly dealing with sprained foot

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ running backs are quickly becoming the Defense Against the Dark Arts professors of the NFL.

According to a report by Jenna Laine of ESPN on Monday, sixth-year back Jacquizz Rodgers is dealing with a foot sprain suffered late in the fourth quarter of Tampa Bay’s 30-24 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Rodgers is said to have also undergone an MRI, which revealed no fractures.

The 26-year-old Rodgers ascended to starting duties after the hamstring injury to first-stringer Doug Martin and the knee injury to backup Charles Sims. He had rushed for 324 and a touchdown in three games since taking over in the backfield.

With Martin still out indefinitely, Sims on injured reserve, and now Rodgers looking extremely doubtful for Thursday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, Peyton Barber and Antone Smith are the next running backs up on Tampa Bay’s decimated depth chart.
