Jameis Winston officially agrees to 1-year deal with Saints
Jameis Winston will be playing with the New Orleans Saints next season.
Winston and the Saints officially agreed to a 1-year deal, the team announced on Tuesday.
Word first emerged overnight Sunday going into Monday that the two sides were finalizing a contract. Later on Monday, the Saints reached a deal with Taysom Hill on a two-year extension.
The addition of Winston gives the Saints a crowded quarterback room, as well as a possible Drew Brees successor. They have Brees, Winston and Hill all who play quarterback, with Winston and Hill battling for reps behind Brees.
New Orleans is hoping Jameis can develop and cut down on his interceptions, which were his downfall with the Bucs (he had a league-worst 30 last season). In a perfect world, Winston develops into a capable quarterback similar to the way Teddy Bridgewater did for the Saints before leaving to sign with Carolina.
