Jared Goff: ‘I’m not worried’ about being drafted by Browns
The Cleveland Browns have traditionally been a place where highly-touted young quarterback careers go to die, but that isn’t worrying Jared Goff.
Goff is one of the consensus top quarterbacks in the 2016 draft, the Browns hold the number two pick, and there is a belief that Cleveland will go quarterback. So is he afraid of what might become of him if he winds up in Cleveland?
“I’m not worried about it,” Goff said, via Peter King’s Monday Morning Quarterback. “I’m excited about it. Whatever team I go to, I’ll be excited to go. I want to be the future of a franchise. I think I can be a guy who can make an impact right away.”
The last quarterback the Browns drafted was Johnny Manziel. Needless to say, that did not work out. Before that, there was Tim Couch, Charlie Frye, Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Colt McCoy, and Brian Hoyer. Goff or one of his contemporaries could be Cleveland’s next attempt at a franchise quarterback. To Goff’s credit, he doesn’t seem put off by it, though I’m not sure what else he’d say.
