Jason McCourty to re-sign with Patriots

Jason McCourty

In a week where teams are spending huge in free agency and revamping their rosters, the New England Patriots are focusing on bringing back as much of their championship team as they can.

On Wednesday, the Patriots reportedly agreed to a new two-year deal with veteran cornerback Jason McCourty.

McCourty signed with New England prior to last season and helped the Patriots win their sixth Super Bowl along with his twin brother Devin. There was briefly some talk of Devin retiring, but he’s going to play out at least the final year of his contract with the Patriots.

Jason McCourty was a reliable contributor for the Patriots last season and made some huge plays in the Super Bowl, one of which broke up what would have been a touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks. It’s no surprise Bill Belichick wanted him back.
