Just when you thought Jeff Fisher’s job was safe regardless of circumstance, the Los Angeles Rams finally pulled the trigger.
The Rams announced on Monday that they have fired Fisher.

The news comes less than a day after the Rams were destroyed at home 42-14 by the Atlanta Falcons to drop to 4-9 on the season. The team has lost four in a row and eight of nine.
The Rams reportedly were considering firing Fisher next week but decided to let him go Monday. They have not yet decided on an interim coach.
What’s interesting is the timing of the move. It was announced a week ago that Fisher received a two-year extension from the team, but he was fired shortly thereafter.
Fisher was head coach of the Rams since 2012. The team went 7-9 under him twice, 7-8-1 once, and 6-10 another season. Fisher promised on “Hard Knocks” he wouldn’t have another 7-9 season — and it looked like that would be correct, as the team was on schedule for a worse finish.
