Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has been named interim head coach of the Jets.
Saleh finishes with a record of 20-36 in three-plus seasons in New York. He did not lead the team to a playoff appearance.
The Jets are 2-3 this season and have not looked any better with Aaron Rodgers than they did with Zach Wilson a year ago. Saleh was given the benefit of the doubt after Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1 last season, but New York’s front office has apparently seen enough.
One troubling stat that surfaced after the Jets’ loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday showed how little improvement there has been from last year’s 7-10 team.
Rodgers has maintained that he has a close relationship with Saleh, but there have been signs that the two were not on the same page. That may have been a factor in the team’s decision to move on from the coach.
