Jets player hints Le’Veon Bell paid huge price for his No. 26 jersey
Le’Veon Bell has worn the same jersey number since he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2013, and the number is obviously very important to him. How important? It sounds like he had to shell out quite a bit of money to keep it with the New York Jets.
Jets safety Marcus Maye wore No. 26 with the team last season, and reporters asked him on Wednesday if he worked out a deal with Bell so that Bell could have the number. While he would not give out any details of the arrangement, Maye hinted that Bell either bought him a new car or gave him enough money that he can buy one for himself.
Jets safety @alldayMAYE gave @LeVeonBell his jersey number (26). What will he get from Bell in return?
A car?

A new car could cost anywhere between $20,000 and well into the six figures, so that doesn’t tell us a whole lot. The smile on Maye’s face, however, says he made out quite well.
We’ve already seen some great deals worked out this offseason so jersey numbers could change hands, and it would appear Bell did right by Maye one way or the other.
