Jets’ reported trade offer for Tyreek Hill revealed
The New York Jets will go down as the runners-up in the Tyreek Hill sweepstakes, but it certainly was not for a lack of trying.
The Jets made a very competitive offer in their bid to acquire Hill, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Under the reported terms, the Chiefs would have acquired two second-round picks and a third-round pick in 2022, while the Jets would have received Hill and a third-round pick.
Here is the trade the Chiefs and Jets had in place for Tyreek Hill:
🏈Chiefs would have gotten picks No. 35, 38 and 69
🏈Jets would have gotten Hill and No. 103.

On the surface, this looks worse than Miami’s offer as it does not include a first-round pick. However, the first-round selection Miami gave up was the No. 29 pick. The Jets were offering pick Nos. 35, 38, and 69, though without any further compensation in 2023.
The Chiefs did like the offer enough to provisionally accept it, but granted Hill the chance to choose between the Jets and Dolphins. He picked Miami, which offered more picks and provided a more attractive playing destination, not to mention a significant break on state income taxes.
