Jimmy Johnson on Saturday was finally inducted into the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor. He spoke during the ceremony and concluded it with his epic line.
Johnson was inducted into the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor during halftime of the team’s Week 17 game against the Detroit Lions at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The former Cowboys head coach spoke for about two minutes to those in attendance, and his speech (and the entire ceremony) was broadcast by ESPN, which was televising the game.
As he concluded his speech, Johnson said “I just got one more thing to say,” before taking a long pause.

Then he belted out his classic line, “how ’bout them Cowboys?”

That was epic. The man has never looked happier.
Johnson originally used the line after his Cowboys won the NFC Championship Game for the 1992 season. He belted out the same line again in 2021 upon receiving his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring from Jerry Jones.
Johnson finally being inducted to the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor is a big deal. He had been snubbed of the deserving honor by team owner Jones for years. Jones finally promised in 2021 that Johnson would get inducted, and it took two years before that finally happened. As Troy Aikman said on ESPN, the “circled has been closed.”
