Chiefs’ Justin Reid has funny response to Harrison Butker injury news
The Kansas City Chiefs may be without kicker Harrison Butker for several weeks, prompting the team’s fans to suggest that the organization will not have to look far for a replacement.
Chiefs fans were quick to suggest that safety Justin Reid could handle kicking duties, and that response should not have been unexpected. Reid did some kicking in high school and even operated as an emergency kicker at Stanford. He has done the same at the NFL level, and by all accounts, has a very strong leg.
Reid, however, quickly sought to quiet the rumors, saying the Chiefs would go out and find a new kicker, but that he appreciated “the vote of confidence.”
Our new kicker will be handling all the kicking responsibilities guys but I appreciate the vote of confidence!

Reid would probably love the job if he could get it, at least as a kickoff specialist. The Chiefs actually thought about trying it this year due to the new kickoff rules — ironically with the aim of protecting Butker from injury.
The Chiefs already brought in Spencer Shrader from the Jets’ practice squad to replace Butker, who will miss a few weeks due to a knee problem.
