Report: Lawrence Timmons dealt with ‘personal matter,’ wants to resume playing

Lawrence Timmons

Lawrence Timmons was a surprise inactive on Sunday after he did not show up to work because of a personal issue, but the veteran linebacker reportedly has every intention of practicing with the Miami Dolphins this week and getting back to playing.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Timmons was “doing much better” as of Monday and was looking forward to rejoining his teammates.

Timmons made the trip to Los Angeles with the Dolphins for their game against the Chargers, which is what made his decision to not show up to the stadium even more bizarre. It was initially reported that Timmons went AWOL and the Dolphins didn’t know where he was, but later reports said the team knew his whereabouts and that he would not be playing after something angered him.

After spending the first 10 years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Timmons signed a two-year, $12 million deal with the Dolphins this past offseason. Sunday’s game was the first one the 31-year-old missed since he was drafted in the first round back in 2007.
