Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly was carted off the field during Thursday night’s win over the New Orleans Saints, but fortunately it appears he avoided any type of serious injury.
On Friday morning, fellow linebacker Thomas Davis shared a photo on Instagram that showed Kuechly giving the thumbs up. Davis said Kuechly wants everyone to know he is “doing fine.”
Kuechly went down while making a tackle with roughly five minutes remaining in the game, and the team later revealed he was being evaluated for a concussion. He appeared on the verge of tears as he was being tended to by trainers. You can see a video of the play here.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera later revealed that Kuechly is, indeed, in the league’s concussion protocol. Last year, Kuechly missed three games because of a concussion. Those are the only three games he has sat out during his five-year NFL career. We’re glad to see he was in good spirits despite the scare.
