A high-profile former NFL head coach is reportedly likely to join Antonio Pierce’s staff in Las Vegas.
Longtime Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is expected to land a role with the Raiders, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The specifics regarding Lewis’ potential role have yet to be determined.
As Antonio Pierce hires staff in Las Vegas, one name expected to be there is former #Bengals coach Marvin Lewis.
Pierce brought in Lewis — who coached him in Washington — to help him after getting the interim job. Now Lewis is expected to be on staff in a more formal capacity.

That Lewis would land on Pierce’s staff is not a big surprise. He was among a group of former coaches Pierce relied upon for advice and guidance after being given the Raiders job on an interim basis. Lewis was an assistant coach in Washington in 2002 when Pierce played for the team, and they also worked together under Herm Edwards at Arizona State.
Lewis spent 16 seasons coaching the Bengals and led them to seven playoff appearances, though he never won a game in the postseason. He has not worked at the NFL level since the Bengals let him go at the end of the 2018 season, though he has been eager to get back into coaching at the top level.
