Minkah Fitzpatrick responds to top 100 players snub

Minkah Fitzpatrick

Minkah Fitzpatrick looked like one of the best safeties in the NFL in 2019, but it wasn’t enough to impress one writer.

CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco released his annual ranking of the NFL’s top 100 players last week, and Fitzpatrick was a surprising omission. That didn’t sit well with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ All-Pro, who said he was “fired up” by his absence.

“Usually I don’t pay attention to the media, because a lot of it is just opinion,” Fitzpatrick told former Steeler Bryant McFadden on CBS Sports HQ, via Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports. “Honestly, I laughed at it. It’s whatever. He thinks he’s right … and then I was trying to get myself fired up before a workout, so I kept watching the video … I really shouldn’t have (responded), but it got me fired up. It worked.”

When you consider what the Steelers gave up for Fitzpatrick, it looked a bit iffy at the time. Not anymore. Fitzpatrick is an All-Pro, and people are mad that he’s not ranked as one of the top 100 players in the NFL by a writer.
