Odell Beckham Jr. has maintained that he is innocent after a man claimed he was brutally beaten at a party hosted by OBJ earlier this year, and the star wide receiver is now making an accusation of his own.
Ishmael Temple filed a $15 million lawsuit against Beckham back in March, claiming he attended a party at Beckham’s Beverly Hills home in January and had a gun pulled on him by Beckham’s bodyguard for no reason and was later brutally beaten by the bodyguard and another man. In more recent allegations, Temple said he witnessed Beckham offer to pay a woman a large sum of money to have sex with him. He also said he has evidence of “drugs of the most prohibited types readily available and consumed” at parties hosted by Beckham.
On Monday, TMZ reported that Beckham has countered with a lawsuit against Temple, claiming Temple’s allegations are nothing more than an extortion attempt. As evidence, Beckham’s legal team points to the fact that Temple at first demanded a $999,999 settlement but then lowered his asking price to $225K without explanation.
“As one of the most famous athletes in the country, Mr. Beckham presents an enticing target for shakedown artists,” the lawsuit states. “Suffice it to say, Mr. Beckham refused to be extorted.”
Beckham’s camp has denied all of the allegations from Temple, claiming the man got into a fight with someone other than Beckham after he arrived to the party belligerent and intoxicated and was told to leave.
Beckham is seeking a long-term contract extension from the Giants, but some believe the team has been hesitant to give him one because of the compromising positions he puts himself in off the field. Earlier this offseason, a video appeared to show Beckham laying on a bed beside a woman who was cutting up a substance that looked like drugs.
