Pat Shurmur addresses whether Giants will make QB change
The New York Giants head into the bye week at 1-7 and in dire need of a rethink, but Pat Shurmur is remaining tight-lipped.
One popular line of questioning is whether quarterback Eli Manning’s job is safe. When that question was posed to Shurmur, he admitted he was going to look at everything, but didn’t seem to want to put the option on the table.
Will Giants coach Pat Shurmur consider a QB change during the bye week?: “I don’t want to go there. I don’t want to tease that. I’m going to look at everything.”

One thing working in Manning’s favor is the fact that there’s no obvious heir apparent on the roster. The current backup is veteran journeyman Alex Tanney, who has played in just one career NFL game and has no real upside for the future. It doesn’t seem particularly likely that the Giants will be able to deal Manning if they want to, either.
