Pete Carroll: Jimmy Graham has ‘good’ chance of playing in Week 1

Despite suffering a torn patellar tendon less than ten months ago, Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham appears to have a solid shot at suiting up for the season opener.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said on Wednesday that Graham has a “good” chance of playing in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, per Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times.

The three-time Pro Bowler came off the physically unable to perform list last month and returned to practice. Though Graham missed the entire preseason, it looks like he has been making tremendous progress in his recovery from the tear suffered last November.

Graham will still need some time to get up to speed after sustaining one of the most catastrophic injuries a pro football player can face. His first season in Seattle was also marred by frustration stemming from a lack of targets and a diminished role in the offense relative to what he was used to in New Orleans.

But when healthy and used properly, the 29-year-old can still be one of the NFL’s deadliest receiving threats, so we’ll see if he can right the ship in 2016.
