The Oakland Raiders are trying to lock down Khalil Mack long-term, according to general manager Reggie McKenzie.
McKenzie confirmed Wednesday that the Raiders have spoken with Mack and everyone is understanding about the defensive lineman’s current situation.
“This is going to be a big contract and all sides are trying to make everything work,” McKenzie told Steve Wyche of NFL.com on Wednesday. “It’s about the end result. One thing I know is that we love Khalil Mack and we want to make him a Raider for life. We’ll get through all the other stuff. We understand the business part of it. Everybody is aware of everything and nobody is surprised. Everything, on all sides has been positive. I can’t stress that enough.”

McKenzie clarified that, despite Mack’s absence from voluntary workouts, the lineman has no issue with coach Jon Gruden or anyone else. He just wants a long-term contract, and the Raiders sound eager to negotiate one.
