There’s still a chance Bennett could return to New England on a different contract, as his salary cap hit of $6.2 million for 2018 was a bit steep given that he has dealt with some injuries over the past two seasons. However, there have been questions about whether the tight end will call it a career.
Bennett, who was ripped by several of his former teammates in Green Bay after he was released, said during the season last year that he will likely retire. Time will tell if he has changed his mind.
